Short Bio
I am a fine art photographer specializing in macro photography.
Statement
As a child in the 80s and 90s, I always had a film camera available for road trips and random photos such as pretend studio shots of my dog. During that time, I loved the Highlights for Children magazines. Always included in these was a page of about 6 extremely zoomed in images and it was up to the reader to guess what that image was. In the early 2000s, I discovered macro photography. This turned out to be a way for me to create images that my audience could explore and make guesses about what the image could be. Over time, my photos have included abstract elements and textures that I find in everyday life, bits and pieces from my time in our butterfly garden and exploring our 5 acres, and things I happen upon while on a nature hike. I often create miniature paintings as backdrops in my macro photographs. I also collect papers and fabrics with extra sparkle to create some of the boekh you see. Sometimes we get so engulfed in the large world around us that we miss the small details at our feet. As a photographer, I want to continue sharing these missed details.
